Privateer Pictures is a collaboration between Myf Hopkins, former Head of Production at Jim Henson's Creature Shop and Adam Buckner, an award winning Visual Effects Supervisor and Director. Myf has over 12 years experience in film, television and commercial production, as both a producer and effects producer. As Head of Production at Jim Henson's Creature Shop from 2001 to 2003, Myf oversaw the creation of animatronics, prosthetics, digital animation and visual effects on feature films, television and commercials including: Tomb Raider II, Five Children and It, and Around the World in 80 Days. Myf is an experienced producer who has produced many commercials involving visual effects and animation, as well as several television broadcasts and 18 short films. One of her most successful films is One Sunday Morning, which won best film awards at festivals worldwide and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Student Foreign Film. As an effects producer, Myf specializes in producing prosthetics, animatronics and creatures for large scale projects including The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (supervising over 98 animatronic and puppet characters including Marvin - the paranoid android and the Vogons), Children of Dune, The Snow Queen and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Myf is a producing tutor at the National Film and Television School where she oversees the graduation animation films. She also teaches courses on producing, production management and producing for animation.
Animatronics / Prosthetics Producer Head of Production at Jim Henson's Creature Shop Producer Awards and Nominations Adam has over 15 years experience in production and post-production for film, television & commercials. He has won an International Monitor Award for Best Visual Effects and received two Emmy Award Nominations for Best Visual Effects for his work on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. As a Visual Effects Supervisor, Adam has worked on feature films, including Mee-Shee: The Water Giant, The Impossible Elephant, Almost America, several television series and numerous commercials. As well as developing, planning and executing the visual effects sequences, he has often acted as 2nd Unit director, enhancing his experience in all areas of visual and special effects production and direction. Adam worked at Paramount Pictures for several seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Enterprise. At Rainmaker Digital in Vancouver he supervised visual effects on many projects including, as in-house digital supervisor, episodes of Stargate SG-1, Dark Angel, and Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda. Adam is an experienced compositor and digital artist, having worked on features and television including Xena: The Warrior Princess, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and Babylon 5. Adam is also a film director who has directed more than 10 short films as well as many theatre projects.
